Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ cup milk

  • ¼ cup water

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1 egg

For the filling:

  • 2 medium apples (peeled and diced)

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp butter

For the caramel glaze:

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup heavy cream

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  • Prepare the dough: Warm the milk, water, and butter until melted and warm (not hot). Combine with flour, sugar, salt, yeast, and egg. Knead until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.

  • Make the filling: Cook apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter in a skillet until softened. Cool slightly.

  • Assemble rolls: Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread the apple mixture evenly, roll up, and slice into 9–12 rolls. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise for 30 minutes.

  • Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Make caramel glaze: Simmer brown sugar, cream, butter, and salt until thickened (about 5 minutes). Pour over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Best served warm with extra caramel drizzle!

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a nice contrast.

  • You can prep the rolls ahead and refrigerate overnight before baking.
