Description
This popular Indo-Chinese favorite features crispy fried chicken tossed in a tangy, spicy chili sauce. It’s perfect as a snack, appetizer, or main dish with rice or noodles.
Ingredients
For the Chicken:

1 lb (450g) boneless chicken (thighs or breast), cut into bite-size pieces

1/4 cup cornstarch
-
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
-
1 egg
-
Salt & pepper, to taste

Oil, for frying
For the Sauce:

1 tbsp oil
-
3 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 inch ginger, grated
-
1 green chili, finely chopped (optional for extra heat)

1/2 onion, diced
-
1/2 green bell pepper, diced
-
2 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tbsp chili garlic sauce or sriracha
-
1 tbsp ketchup
-
1 tsp vinegar
-
1 tsp sugar
-
1–2 tbsp water, to loosen sauce if needed

Spring onions, for garnish
Instructions

Make the Chicken: In a bowl, mix chicken pieces with egg, cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Toss until coated.

Heat oil in a pan and fry chicken pieces until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Make the Sauce: In a large pan, heat 1 tbsp oil. Sauté garlic, ginger, and green chili. Add onion and bell pepper, cook for 2–3 minutes.

Stir in soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and water. Simmer until slightly thickened.

Toss the crispy chicken into the sauce and coat well.

Garnish with spring onions and serve hot!
Notes

Adjust spice level by reducing or increasing chili sauce and fresh chili.

For a healthier version, air-fry or bake the chicken instead of deep-frying.
