Ingredients
-
1 lb (450g) fresh salmon fillet, cut into bite-sized pieces
-
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
-
1/2 cup cornstarch
-
1 tsp paprika
-
1 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
1/2 cup buttermilk
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
1 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tbsp sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
-
1 tsp honey (optional, for balance)
-
Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish
-
Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
-
In a shallow bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
-
Dip the salmon pieces into buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat in the flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
-
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon pieces in batches, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sriracha sauce, and honey (if using). Drizzle over the crispy salmon bites and toss to coat.
-
Serve the salmon bites hot, garnished with chopped cilantro and lemon wedges on the side.
Notes
-
Adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less cayenne pepper or sriracha sauce.
-
If you want a crunchier coating, double coat the salmon pieces (dip in buttermilk and flour mixture twice).
-
For a lower-fat option, bake the salmon bites at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes until crispy.
