Description
These Easter Birds Nest Cookies are a fun, festive, and easy-to-make treat! With crunchy chow mein noodles, melted chocolate, and colorful candy eggs, they’re perfect for celebrating spring and Easter with kids and adults alike.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 4 cups crunchy chow mein noodles
- 1 cup mini candy-coated chocolate eggs (like Cadbury Mini Eggs or M&M’s)
Instructions
- Melt the Chocolate and Butterscotch:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and fully melted.
- Mix the Noodles:
- In a large mixing bowl, pour the melted chocolate mixture over the chow mein noodles. Gently toss until the noodles are completely coated.
- Form the Nests:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the sheet and shape each into a small nest.
- Add the Eggs:
- While the nests are still wet, press 2-3 candy eggs into the center of each nest.
- Set the Nests:
- Allow the nests to cool and harden at room temperature for about 1 hour, or place them in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to set faster.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Once the nests are firm, gently peel them off the parchment paper and serve!
Notes
- Substitute the butterscotch chips with peanut butter chips for a different flavor.
- Add shredded coconut to the mixture for a more “nest-like” texture.
- These nests make great edible gifts when packaged in decorative boxes or bags.
