Description

This Easter Dirt Cake Casserole is a fun and delicious dessert that’s perfect for celebrating spring and Easter! With layers of creamy vanilla pudding, crumbled cookies, and a sweet, chocolatey topping, it’s a treat that everyone will love. It’s easy to make, and you can even get the kids involved for a fun baking session!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (15 oz) Oreo cookies
  • 1 package (3.4 oz) vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups milk
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 container (8 oz) Cool Whip or whipped topping
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup mini marshmallows (optional, for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup gummy worms (optional, for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Crush the Oreos: In a food processor or by placing the Oreos in a ziplock bag and crushing them with a rolling pin, crush about 3/4 of the package into fine crumbs. Leave some large pieces for texture.
  • Prepare the pudding layer: In a medium bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and milk until thickened, about 2 minutes. Set aside.
  • Make the cream cheese layer: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth. Add the Cool Whip and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  • Assemble the casserole: In a large casserole dish, spread half of the crushed Oreo crumbs on the bottom. Then, add the pudding layer over the Oreos. Next, spread the cream cheese mixture on top of the pudding.
  • Finish with more Oreos: Top with the remaining crushed Oreos, spreading them evenly over the casserole.
  • Chill: Cover the casserole and refrigerate for 2-4 hours to allow the layers to set and the flavors to meld.
  • Garnish: Just before serving, top with mini marshmallows, gummy worms, and shredded coconut to resemble dirt and worms for a fun Easter look.

Notes

  • You can make this a day ahead and store it in the refrigerator overnight for convenience.
  • If you prefer a less sweet dessert, reduce the powdered sugar or skip the marshmallow and coconut garnishes.
  • To make it even more festive, you can decorate the casserole with small Easter-themed candies or chocolate eggs.
