Description

Crispy, golden halloumi bites with a sweet and spicy hot honey drizzle make for a delicious and irresistible appetizer or snack. Perfectly crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz halloumi cheese, cut into bite-sized cubes

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for drizzling)

For the Hot Honey Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp honey

  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes

  • ½ tsp hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  • Dip halloumi cubes into the flour mixture, then into the beaten egg, and back into the flour.

  • Arrange the coated halloumi on the prepared baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

  • Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, heat honey with red pepper flakes and hot sauce (if using) over low heat until warmed and smooth.

  • Drizzle hot honey over the oven-fried halloumi bites and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, you can also pan-fry the halloumi bites.

  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes to the honey sauce.
