  • Author: amelia
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These Sausage French Toast Roll-Ups combine the best of both worlds—savory sausage wrapped in sweet, cinnamon-spiced French toast. A fun, delicious breakfast or brunch treat that everyone will enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large breakfast sausage links
  • 4 slices of bread (thick-cut, preferably day-old)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp butter (for frying)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the sausage: In a skillet, cook the sausage links over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Prepare the bread: While the sausage is cooking, flatten each slice of bread using a rolling pin. Remove the sausage casing, and place one sausage link on each slice of bread. Roll up tightly.
  • Make the French toast batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
  • Coat and cook: Dip each sausage roll-up in the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the roll-ups, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides (about 3-4 minutes).
  • Serve: Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm!

Notes

  • You can use any type of sausage, such as turkey sausage or chicken sausage, for a lighter option.
  • For an extra touch, add a little cream cheese or fruit preserves inside the roll-ups before rolling.
