Ingredients
-
1 lb ground chicken (preferably lean)
-
1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
-
1/2 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded
-
1/4 cup bread crumbs (optional for binding)
-
1 egg
-
1 clove garlic, minced
-
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
-
1/2 teaspoon paprika
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
-
1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
-
Mix the burger ingredients:
-
In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, bread crumbs (if using), egg, minced garlic, onion powder, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
-
Mix everything together until well combined, but be careful not to overwork the meat.
-
-
Shape the patties:
-
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, making sure they’re slightly larger than the size of your buns (they may shrink slightly during cooking).
-
-
Cook the burgers:
-
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the patties in the skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the burgers reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and are golden brown on the outside.
-
-
Serve:
-
Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a minute or two. Serve them on burger buns with your favorite toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc.), or enjoy them on their own for a low-carb option.
-
Notes
-
For a lighter version, you can skip the bread crumbs and use almond flour for a gluten-free option.
-
If you prefer a more flavorful burger, add some hot sauce or mustard to the mixture.
-
These burgers can be frozen before cooking for a quick meal later.
