  • Author: amelia

  • Yield: 4 burgers 1x

Description

These White Cheddar and Spinach Chicken Burgers are a healthy, flavorful twist on the classic chicken burger. Packed with nutrient-rich spinach and melty white cheddar, they’re juicy, tender, and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or meal prep. These burgers are sure to satisfy your cravings while keeping things light and healthy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken (preferably lean)

  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

  • 1/2 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs (optional for binding)

  • 1 egg

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  • Mix the burger ingredients:

    • In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, bread crumbs (if using), egg, minced garlic, onion powder, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

    • Mix everything together until well combined, but be careful not to overwork the meat.

  • Shape the patties:

    • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, making sure they’re slightly larger than the size of your buns (they may shrink slightly during cooking).

  • Cook the burgers:

    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the patties in the skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the burgers reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and are golden brown on the outside.

  • Serve:

    • Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a minute or two. Serve them on burger buns with your favorite toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc.), or enjoy them on their own for a low-carb option.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can skip the bread crumbs and use almond flour for a gluten-free option.

  • If you prefer a more flavorful burger, add some hot sauce or mustard to the mixture.

  • These burgers can be frozen before cooking for a quick meal later.
